*Note Asa (Asaph) Paine and his sister Mary (Polly) Paine never married.
Their farm was referred to as the Paine Farm. They Adopted and raised 7 kids
and most likely Solon was one of them see link below. Asa and Mary Paine adopted and raised 7 kids
According to the journal of Herbert J. Libby 2 of Fessenden Swans children ( a girl and a boy)
had been taken in by the Solon Ryerson family - this would have been
sometime after the 1880 census. Fessenden's youngest daughter who's name was
Ethel J. Swan had the same birth year as (Elizabeth Mary Ryerson - see the 1900 census above) The Ryerson Genealogy #102 states Solon Ryerson and Mary Dicker adopted
Fessenden Swans daughter Elizabeth Swan. Fessenden didn't appear to have a
daughter Elizabeth he did however have Ethel J. Swan (view census here) who disappears
at this time. So one could conclude that Ethel J. Swan was adopted by The Ryerson's and renamed after her adopted mother Mary Dicker.
